Detection and development of the target — the phase that decides whether the rest of the cycle ever begins. Passive radio-frequency detection, overhead imagery, small unmanned reconnaissance and the optics that let a recce element observe without being observed.
Holding the target in place and in view. Persistent observation, precise target location with rangefinder and compass, and the network that keeps the fix shared between the observer and the assault force in real time.
The assault. Head-borne protection, precision and automatic fires, the munitions that produce the authorised effect, and the mobility that puts the force onto the objective and takes it off again.
Site exploitation on the objective — material, media and forensic collection, hazard sampling and identification, and the communications to push what was found rearward before the force extracts.
Turning what came off the objective into the next target. The deployable network, the storage and the reachback that let a forward element analyse in place rather than waiting to return to a base.
Pushing the product to whoever acts next — the adjacent unit, the partner force, the national headquarters. Federation and release control decide who sees it, and that is where DIV/04 takes the cycle forward.
